Last night was our last night out at the Sparks Farmer’s Market with out booth for the Blood:Water Mission. It was a huge success! At first the night was going pretty slow, and we were all somewhat bummed out, but as soon as the temperature fell below a hundred degrees, and some excited volunteers showed up, we got out there and rose some money.
Our first two nights we rose sixty-five dollars each, but tonight we surpassed the sum of them both by raising one hundred-forty dollars! It was exciting to see so many people give towards the cause of clean water in Africa. If you are reading this and you want to know how to you can donate towards this cause, simply click this link.
And as I promised about a month ago, I got some photos! So… Enjoy!

I live in Reno, NV. Just in case you didn’t know, and here in Reno there is only one abortion clinic. It is in a part of town that I am not in too often, so I have only seen it a handful of times, but… The other day I drove past, and I saw something I deffinitley didn’t expect to see. This abortion clinic has posted signs in the front of their building. I guess these signs are to counterprotest all the protestors that probably come. I am guessing that most of these protestors are Christians and display that very loudly as they are are there. So these signs that the abortion clinic posted contain religious sayings and even Bible verses! Check this sickening display out…
(Excuse the photos I used my crappy camera on my phone…)
This sign says, “Osama Bin Laden is not the only terrorist who hides behind religion.” So I guess they are saying that the people who say that they don’t stand for abortion because of Christianity are actually terrorists? Crazy. Maybe they are letting the few people who have bombed clinics speak for the rest of Christians. Anyway… They are the ones killing the babies, we just want to see them live. Which one sounds more like terror to you?
This sign kinda made me laugh, and it contradicts the sign above too (think about it). First of all it is pulled totally out of context. I can’t judge them, I can’t send them to hell, but I can know that what they are doing is wrong. I think they are more guilty of this than we are, I mean… They are the ones “judging” who gets to live and who gets to die.
Once again, this made me somewhat laugh. If they are hiding behind this verse, they are going to have a big surprise when they find out that what they are doing actually goes against Jesus Christ… How do you think they will be judged?
And then I had to save this for the closing… God is pro-choice? Why would he create life and then leave the choice to keep it or not up to us? That just doesn’t make much sense. This is the sign that first caught my eye, and quite frankly I still can’t believe that they posted something so ignorant in front of their building.
I almost didn’t write about this, because I didn’t want to give any satisfaction or ammunition to this clinic. But you know what? I just think it is ridiculous that people will try so hard to make the Bible say something it doesn’t. This battle between pro-choice and pro-life, isn’t a battle of what the Bible says, but it is a battle of whether or not people are willing to believe what the Bible actually says. The Bible tells us that God is the creator of all life. The Bible tells us that murdering is wrong. And as creations of God we are to respect what he has created, and the rules which he has set forth.
I don’t agree at all with people that bomb clinics, and I don’t think that Christians need to stand outside of a clinic shouting vulgarities at the people going in. People need to be real though. We can’t just sit around and let abortion happen in the way that it continues to. We need to be bold enough that people know that we don’t agree with it, not because we are supposed to disagree, but because it is right to disagree.
What do you think?

This is random, but one of my friends found this article and passed it onto me. If you live in the Lake Tahoe area and enjoy hiking, you should take advantage of some of these hikes mentioned in this article.
My brother, my friend, and I hiked up Mt. Rose last year and that was awesome. It is about a 9 mile hike, and it took about 6 hours. It was tiring, no doubt about it, but it was worth it. Getting to see views that you could only dream of, or see from the window of the airplane taking off is well worth the hike.

Do any of you hike? If so where?

There is this restaurant right down the street from where I work, and I have literally eaten there everyday this week. I am not too sure what I like most about it or what keeps drawing me in. Maybe it is the food they serve. It is different than anywhere else. They have a great variety of soup which changes everyday, awesome sandwiches, and the best cookies ever. Oh yeah, they have a great side salad too. Or maybe it is the great service. Ever since the first day I went there they have been calling me by my first name. I gotta admit, yesterday it was kinda weird when a person knew my name that hadn’t helped me yet, but whatever, I guess word just flies when your a good looking guy ;). Just kidding. But anyway, or maybe it is the atmosphere that draws me in. If you know me at all, you know I am a sucker for downtown life. I enjoy the culture of it all. I like the laid backness of it, and the style. And SUP contains all of it.
So I guess what keeps drawing me is the fact that SUP contains all three of these great attributes. Good food. Great service. And an awesome environment. I do gotta say though, if you want a seat, you better get there early.

So, some of you who know me know that I’ve been waiting to get a bicycle for a while now, and today I got it! I purchased this bike from the Reno Bike Project. It cost me 6 weeks of waiting and two hundred-fifty dollars. But I am stoked that I finally got it. This bike is used, and it is totally rebuilt. They take pieces from other bikes and use them to replace the parts that are broken or missing on this bike.
I got this bike so that I can use it for my main means of transportation. I am going to use it to ride to church, work, and pretty much anything else that isn’t a thousand miles out of the way.
I’m interested to know… Do you any of you use a bike as your means of transportation? If so, has it helped you on the amount of gas you use?

Hey everyone! Those of you who know anything about the area around Reno, Nevada, you know that Tornados are not a common part of life here. But today there was one, or two (I’m not sure, because the news story was confusing), that touched down around Fallon, Nevada, which is only about an hour from Reno. Total craziness…

If you live in Reno you most likely have heard about tent city. Tent city is a place where a large number of homeless people have began to post up tents. They have created a community in which they are policing and taking care of. But Reno has been trying to get rid of this since the day it started. They are now scheduling it to be closed within two months. The reason for this closure is due to a parking lot which they are building for a homeless shelter near by. I think that is ironic, and it really doesn’t make any since. They are going to close this place right before winter, and leave all of these homeless people with no where to go. They say they have plans to relocate the people of “Tent City.” But let’s just pray that the right thing is done.
